Cassava starch manufacturing process

As a high quality starch processing raw material in cassava starch industry, cassava root has high starch content, but little protein, oil and ash content, and the contents of starch in fresh cassava root accounts for 25-32%. Here we will introduce the cassava starch manufacturing process.
Cassava starch manufacturing process 

1.Raw material pretreatment
a. Cassava choosing: The quality of the raw cassava has an important influence on the starch quality in cassava starch processing plant, therefore the cassava choosing process is the first step towards a high quality cassava starch in cassava starch manufacturing process. The cassava starch extraction rate is low with cassava less than 10 months. While the cassava more than 24 months old cassava has been qualitative which caused great difficulties to broken and grinding. Thus it will be better to choose raw cassava between 10-12 month.

b. Cassava cleaning and washing: The weighted cassava is transported in dry sieve by conveyor to remove the sand, weed, stones and other debris. There is no water needed in this process in cassava starch manufacturing process. The dry sieve is designed with multi spirals which push cassava forward during the cleaning process. Then it goes into the paddle washing machine to further wash the attached silt, grave and other impurities. Water is needed for this process. And the machine adopts countflow washing method to improve washing effect.

2.Cassava grinding process: Grinding is an important process in cassava starch manufacturing process. Therefore grinding machine is an important cassava starch processing machinery. DOING raper is an high efficient grinding machine which can fully grind cassava into slurry. This machine adopts bidirectional grinding design which ensures a higher grinding coefficient.

3. Starch slurry separation and refining:
a. Starch slurry separation: For cassava starch manufacturing process, the separation is another important procedure. We use multi stage centrifuge sieve for separating fiber from starch in cassava starch processing plant.  And fine fiber sieve is added for further removing the fine fibers out of starch slurry.

b. Sand removal: The cassava starch manufacturing process is this stage is mainly for remove the sand content out of cassava slurry for it has a bad influence on the taste of cassava starch. The desander utilizes the different specific gravity between the cassava starch and sand to remove the sand.


c. Protein separation: Hydrocyclone station is the mainly used cassava starch processing machine for remove the protein, cell fiber, cell sap out of starch milk. And a complete hydrocyclone station in cassava starch manufacturing process contains the concerntration, refining and recycling.

4.Starch dewatering and drying:
a. Dewatering: The next cassava starch manufacturing process is the dewatering. The dewatering machine in Doing Company is the peeler centrifuge. This touch material is made of high quality stainless steel which ensures high starch quality.

b. Starch drying: For drying process, we use flash dryer for cassava starch manufacturing process. The whole process time of air drying is completed in an instant, so the internal moisture of the starch granules is dried before gelatinized, and this process consists of heat transfer and mass transfer.
